Geek Squad Complaint - Laptop freezing up - Sony VAIO
This company cannot fix a simple problem. I brought my laptop to them that is freezing up. First, I had it checked for viruses from our next door neighbor computer shop who said that there was no virus but one of the memory is bad. Since its the 11th month of the warranty I brought it back to Best Buy (where I bought it) not knowing that Geek Squad was responsible for fixing it. They tried to charge me for the parts when I already told the counter that it's still under warranty. Finally they shipped it back to the store after getting the parts from Sony (took 2 weeks). The ticket says they replaced the hard drive and re-image it and they also replaced the memory. They also made a note that there was a physical damage on the palm rest (which my daughter caused) & I don't dispute. But they charge me some $54.00+ for labor (warranty says parts & labor is free). I ask why, and they said because of the broken palm rest???? I don't like to argue a lot so I paid $54.00. Oh yeah, I boot the laptop and it opened but did not checked it thoroughly. When I brought it home and tried to use it, it was still freezing up! So I brought to the computer shop who ran a thorough check up: memory is good but the hard drive fails, which should be new! (And the computer shop did not chrge me for diagnostic). Geek Squad is a cheat. I don't want to bring it back to them to save me headache, get it 2 weeks and it still be the same problem. They are useless.
