Bucoleon Palace Hotel Complaint - Looks can be deceiving!
ISTANBUL TURKEY -- I stayed at this hotel over the summer. It is located in the historical Sultanahmet district of Istanbul, Turkey. I was scheduled to stay for 2 nights but I only stayed for one. I got very ill the 2nd morning after eating breakfast at their hotel. I was planning to go tour around but all I could do was lie in bed with the worst stomach pains I have ever had. I started to throw up and then I had diarrhea at the same time. Luckily I had a relative that lived in another part of the city who came to pick me up. I checked out of the hotel at 3:30 pm but the dbag manager charged me for both nights! He said that he was obligated to do so since I booked through a "travel agency". I actually used a booking website, but their website did not charge my card. Again I was not charged any money on my card until check out. Hotel manager told me I should call the agency to discuss refund, but then when I did they told me it was up to the hotel if I was to get any refund or not. Then the website told me they could not reach the manager and they tried to call the hotel a few times again after this. Basically everyone wanted to pass the buck! You would think that Bucoleon Palace Hotel would have shown me some decency. My room was located one floor up from the reception desk. I am sure that someone there heard me barfing one of the 5 or 6 times that I did it. Next time I was in Istanbul I stayed at a place that was not as new or not as fresh but I did not get sick there! Furthermore Bucoleon palace hotel lied to the booking website saying that they did not charge me the full amount! I have a charge receipt with the time and date stamp showing that they did!! Avoid Bucoleon Palace Hotel. There are many hotels in Istanbul to choose from. Stay at a different one. Front desk girl was very nice but the manager was not helpful at all and if they want repeat customers they need to treat guests better.
