Never buying a Whirlpool product EVER AGAIN!!!
Whirlpool refrigerator - Complaint
I purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator in February of this year - just months after I bought it to replace a crappy Maytag, it started to fail, melting ice, producing condensation in the freezer and rotting milk days before the expiration date. I came home from a road trip to find the fridge completely worthless, sour dairy, moldy vegetables and tortillas...
I called Lowe's, where I bought the fridge, and they kindly referred me to Whirlpool's warranty people, who sent out a repairman a few days later. He knew exactly what was wrong, saying "that's what the problem usually is."
I wrote a letter to Whirlpool, letting them know how disappointed I was that their product failed after just a few months. What I got in return was most unsatisfactory: we don't like it when our products fail and are sorry you lost food. We'll fix the fridge, but deal with the repair company. That was it, no offer to send a gift card or gesture of any sort to apologize for making a crappy product.
I called customer service and was very polite. But to get a hold of anyone, they quiz you worse than a bank! I thought they were going to run a credit check just to hear me out. Anyhow, I kept getting transferred, and then I told them I was very disappointed that in a down economy, they didn't do anything to go the extra mile to make it up to customers who are buying durable goods when no one else is.
DO NOT PURCHASE WHIRLPOOL PRODUCTS! They are subpar and the company does not stand behind its product - they are proud to cover it under the warranty, but that's nothing unusual - every company does this. Very, very disappointed.
