Lowe's Complaint - Poor service
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA -- On Sunday August 8, 2010 I went to Lowe's in gaitherburg va to purchase an electric stove for an apartment in charlottesville va. at first the salesperson said he cannot do that, I would have to do it at home by computer (even though this store had done it before several years ago) only after the comment " I think he is just too lazy to do it" to my copurchaser he reluctanly did so. I personally spoke with the charlottesville salesperson who assured me that this range was available and would be delivered on Tuesday August 10. the delivery people were supposed to call the evening (Monday) before to give a window of delivery.
(I also gave the phone # of the person receiving the range) neither he nor I heard anything. after numerous phone calls I was finally told the item I ordered and paid for was not available. more phone-calls!!!
i then chose a different range unseen (hopefully it will be as good as I was told) to be delivered Wednesday 11 between 8 and 9. again no phone-call and the item was not delivered. numerous phone-calls again. nobody seems to know what was going on. promises of calling me with answers were never done. I finally called for the manager of the delivery department and was told he had already left for the day (that was 12 o'clock noon) after talking with somebody who took the managers place. again there was no answer to the problem. I asked for the delivery companies phone # so I could talk with them directly. first I was given the wrong phone #. after calling back I was given a different #. I tried for a good hour but nobody took the phone.
i finally talked again to the gentlemen receiving the range and was told that they called him and that the range would be delivered between 1 and 3pm. it is now 1:15pm and I will believe it when the item actually arrived.
i don't know who manages these stores. my impression is that there is no management, supervision, adequate training and follow ups. nobody seemed to know what the other person was doing. the task required was obviously not a difficult one. do all your employees speak English adequately?
needless to say this shopping experience was agonizing and costing a lot of time and phone calls on my part and on the part of the gentleman who stayed home all day Tuesday.
will I ever shop at your store again? I don't think so.
