Charter Communications Complaint - Not honoring price quote.
I contacted Charter in July 2009 to see about switching my phone service from Vonnage to Charter. I was quoted a rate of $14.99 per month for 1 year. I was also told to call at the end of the year to see what offers they would have at that time. When I called in July 2010, I found out they had set my account up wrong and had been charging me $39.99 per month for the year. When I complained they looked back and saw that the $14.99 offer was available in 2009, but I wasn't given it. They then told me that the company policy was that if you didn't check your bill monthly, and catch something like this, you're out of luck when you do as they'll only go back 30 days. I went as far as the corporate office through the BBB but they will not credit me the $25 extra I was charged each month because I didn't catch it in time. Basically they had made me an offer which I had accepted but then they did not honor it going forward. I asked if I needed to double check my bill each month going forward (they now quoted me $19.99), and I got a scripted response telling me that I could dispute a billing issue within 30 days but wouldn't say if they will or will not change the agreed upon rate without notifying me.
