United Parcel Service Complaint - UPS --> Tampa, FL Distribution center lies!!!
TAMPA, FLORIDA -- UPS failed to deliver my package...a $900 computer from Dell. On 1/31/05 I received a note taped to my door that they attempted delivery. On 1/31 via the automated system, I requested the package be redelivered on 2/4 as knew I would be home that day b/c my son was having his tonsils out on 2/3. I was going to be home until the following Wed…enough time to get my new computer hooked up.
On the afternoon of 2/4, when my package did not come, I called the 1-800 # and this was the first I had heard of someone changing the delivery status. On 2/1 at 2:52 am, someone changed it to say I would pick it up (Lie #1). I never did this. When I explained this to the people at the tracking office, they said the would send a message to have a supervisor call me back w/in the hour (LIE #2) from the Tampa, Florida distribution center.
Dave did call me back, but as I found out, he is not a supervisor. He said he would look for it and call me back w/in an hour. (LIE #3). An hour goes by…he does not call back. I did *69 on my phone and called him back. (813-241-1095). He now says that he can’t find it, but he's got calls out to the drivers to see if it is on one of their trucks. It will probably be delivered today but if not, call him back at 5:30 as he will be there until 6. (LIE #4). I ask him how did the computer get changed to say I would pick it up? He doesn’t know but will investigate (LIE #5).
I call back at 5:30. Dave is gone. Charlotte (who is one of the most condescending persons I ever spoken with) tells me it’s here in “will call” b/c that’s what the computer says. I ask her to look for it before I drive down there with my 3 yr old son who is recovering from surgery. She puts me on hold for 10 minutes. Disconnects me. I call back and after holding for another 7 minutes, she admits she can’t find the package.
So I ask, if I had driven down there w/ my sick 3 year old, as she said to, what would have happened? She admits it would have been a wasted trip. I ask her how the computer was changed to say that I would pick it up? She admits it was some clerk who wasn’t paying attention. I told her at this point, I’ve been lied to so many times by UPS, I don’t believe anything they are telling me anymore and ask what should I do now? She says she has no clerks who can look in the warehouse at this time and she can’t leave the phone (goodness knows, she has great phone skills and UPS must want her answering that phone!!) to look but will have someone look and call me back w/in the hour (LIE #6).
No one calls me back. It is now 8:30pm. I call one more time and she again tells me that no one has had time to look!! Never mind that I’ve been waiting on them for over 6 hours now but they don’t have time for me. But she would have a clerk look and call me w/in 15-20 minutes (LIE #7). No one called me back.
I have since called Dell and reported the package lost and they have told me they will rebuild my computer and resend it…hopefully via any delivery method other than UPS!
