Frigidaire Complaint - Premature rusting of Frigidaire stainless steel range - Frigidaire Gallery Stainless Steel Gas Range LGGF305MKF

Frigidaire Gallery Stainless Steel Gas Range LGGF305MKF - Complaint
Review by funky1 on 2010-08-11
AUGUSTA, GEORGIA -- We purchased a brand new Frigidaire Gallery Stainless Steel Gas Range model: LGGF305MKF

Within a couple of months it is showing rust spots on the stainless steel surfaces. The spots are under what looks like a factory applied protective coating and not due to any improper cleaning or damage by the consumer.

Product warranty specifically excludes rust. Customer service refuses to help.

When purchasing an appliance at a cost of over $1000, a consumer expects it to last and not rust within less than one year.

The surface, if indeed made of stainless, is of inferior quality. We've since learned that if the stainless is magnetic it is cheap/inferior product.

None of our other stainless appliances from other brands are rusting. The surface is worse than/less durable than much cheaper enameled appliances.

We paid a premium for a stainless appliance and got junk - stay away from stainless Frigidaire and Electrolux (parent company) appliances.

There are numerous reports on the web of other consumers having the same problem.

The last time I was looking at stoves there was a stainless one with the entire front just hanging off. It was anything but stainless steel, even though that's what it said in the description. I don't even know what it was, but it looked like some kind of silver colored plasticky thing. I wish I could remember the brand, but it was quite a while ago. I remember thinking that I would never buy a stainless steel appliance because there is no way of knowing what it's actually made of. You obviously can't rely on the description, and there's really nothing else to go on.

Not that it should, but part of the reason the rusting could be occurring is because you're in such a high humidity environment.

I may be able to help if you'll include a photo of the amount of rust and what the overall appliance looks like. If not, please give a better description of this area.

Look forward to hearing from you.

I bought model FGGF3054KFE Frigidaire Gallery Range. The range top rusted after 14 months. The warrenty is for 1 year and even if under 1 year warranty says will not cover rust, so they will not do anything. They want satisfied customers according to their website, but will not help. DO NOT buy Electrolux/Frigidaire they use cheap materials.

I wish I had read all these reviews before my purchase. Model CPEF3081KFC Frigidaire Professional Range - the top of the warming drawer door, started to rust, for now it's "only" a few scattered spots of rust (size of pinhead)- but I can see a couple of them started to radiate outward. The range was delivered in Feb/2011. I didn't even have a chance to use the oven (I have to try this weekend - it might not even be working), never mind about pulling out the warming drawer. Decided to do a thorough cleaning a couple of days ago - that's when I noticed the rust. Called Lowes 'cause I have bought extended warranty - answer was "looks like it's a factory defect, should check with Frigidaire". Sent an e-mail to Electrolux, very efficient - responded to me the next business day. "Send me digital pictures please, let me have the Engineering Department to look at it as rust is not covered under the 1-year warranty". The reply is "I did see the spots that you are referring to. What I would do is to get a Brillo pad and lightly go back and forth with the grain of the s/s. Then what I use on my stainless steel is 3n1 oil, light for your sewing machine. Smooth it over the stainless steel with a paper towel (thin coating). I use it to keep the metal safe & it will keep moisture off or beading up on the metal. . . . I could see spot rings in the photos where a liquid drops were

I too am in the same boat I purchased a Pro dual fuel range and witihin 3 months it was rusting and yes its magnetic. Its a really low grade of stainless which in he right conditions will rust. I also have pro fridge and dishwasher which are fine but they also appear to have some type of sealer on the surface. I too have gotten the we don't cover rust song and dance. Flat out stainless should not corrode. I bought mine from American TV with a 5 year warranty they have been trying to fix it but there song and dance is parts keep showing up damaged. I have a feeling I am going to need to contact the states attorney general and get them involved. Selling defective merchandise is a crime, wether the store that sold it refuses to honor the agreement or the manufacturer. Someone is going to eat this stove.
