8th Continent Soymilk Informative - Not Again! - Chocolate Soymilk

Review by Venice09 on 2010-08-14
It's so hard to find healthful drinks that teens will actually choose, and I found a gem in 8th Continent Light Chocolate Soymilk. It is something I always have in the refrigerator because I know my teen will drink it. When it's on sale, I usually buy at least three or four cartons at a time. So imagine my surprise and disappointment when I again am unable to find this in the supermarket. The packaging has changed at least four times since I first discovered this product, and each time the chocolate version is nowhere to be found.

Why is it necessary to continually change the container of 8th Continent Soymilk, and why is chocolate the last one to hit the shelves after each change? I hope the chocolate variety has not been discontinued because there isn't anything else like it on the market, to my knowledge.

This review is a complaint, a compliment and informative. I love the product but do not like the constant changes and lack of availability. So my advice would be to not get hooked on this drink because it's there one day and gone the next.

I haven't had it in a while, but 8th continent soymilk is really, really good.

That's really annoying when they have a good product and then it's not there.

Happens all the time to me! I find something I like, whether it be food, makeup, body sprays, or even my contact lense cleaning and soaking solution, and bam, not being made any longer.

That container in the photo is not the original one. It's the third or fourth rendition. I could live with the changes, but every time they do it I can't find chocolate! Last time it took several months before chocolate became available again. That's really my biggest complaint.

Does anyone know if there's another brand of chocolate soymilk (light)? I can't find a light variety in my local supermarkets.

Venice, I buy Silk Chocolate, light, that's really delicious. They have regular, and vanilla. I think they all taste delicious. Heres the link with coupons, if anyone is interested. I believe they also have butter pecan flavored, though I have not tried it.

We tried Silk but it wasn't light. I think that's why we didn't like it. I can't find light Silk. I may have to give in and try Walmart. Thanks for letting me know they make a light variety. I'll look for it again.

Venice, I THINK Kroger brand has a light chocolate---but I cannot swear by it.

Thanks for the suggestion, raven, but we don't have Kroger here. I may check Walmart but only as a last resort. I keep hoping it will show up in one of my supermarkets. I just hope it wasn't discontinued. I can't imagine it not being a popular flavor.

Skye, I found Silk Chocolate Light! I'm so glad you told me about it because I didn't know Silk made a light version. It's not as chocolaty as 8th Continent, but it does taste more like real chocolate milk. My son said it tasted fine and he's the biggest critic. I may not go back to 8th Continent even if chocolate does show up again, just for spite!.. haha
