Delta Airlines Complaint - Double cancellation - Airline fiasco
My wife was scheduled a flight out of Tampa to JFK that was canceled after she had boarded due to Mechanical Failures. She was rescheduled for the 4:30 flight, given a meal voucher, and asked to wait for the flight to board. At 4PM, they then canceled the second flight. At this point, her connection on her International flight was lost, so she opted to wait to reschedule the next day. Delta refunded her baggage fee, and then directed her to carousel 7 to retrieve her bags.
You can guess from here what happened: No baggage. She went to lost luggage, and they were able to retrieve one of her two bags, but was told that her other bag had already been sent to Atlanta. They assigned it a file number, flagged for it to be returned, and we were told it would be delivered to our home address (we live in Tampa) the next day. By late afternoon, we did not have the bag, so I called the lack-of-customer service number, and talked to a supervisor who I felt treated me like an interruption to my job, and when I exploded on the phone (and you can bet that I exploded) she quickly became defensive shut me off like a faucet spurting mud.
I called lost luggage again, and get this...the luggage was off on a World Tour. From Atlanta, it went to Paris on Air France, and then on its way to Abu Dhabi. We are hoping it took pictures so we can see what my wife missed. Delta actually wanted to leave it in Abu Dhabi until my wife could rebook the entire flight and catch up to it. Really? Fortune 500 company and this is your best answer to the operational incompetency you have displayed? My wife refused, and directed the luggage be returned to Tampa. Although they did not like it, the are complying, but right now I figure our luggage is somewhere over the Atlantic on its way to South America. I mean, what would a world tour be without hitting all seven continents?
