Beach hut deli Complaint - Unsanitary conditions/poor customer service

Review by valerie238 on 2010-08-15
ELK GROVE, CALIFORNIA -- This is similar to my experience in the elk grove, ca location today. 1st we ordered from work and clearley stated there would b several different orders that would be paid separate, he said no problem and said our food would be done in 30 minutes. we walk over 5 minutes early to get paying out of the way, he tried to charge me all together, when I told him no I told the person on the phone it would all be separate he said that would be too difficult, so I had to help him do his job and ring them up separate, then he states its going to be a lot longer than he said before, jeez I get a 30 min lunch already as it is. so after sitting there for 1 hour and witnessing another employee come if for her shift wearing shorts that were so short half her buttcheeks were hanging out. they brpught our food up. I realize my nachos had peppers which I clearly stated on the phone that I did not want any peppers or onions. he went straight to arguing with me saying they werent peppers that they were waxed banans, hello waxed peppers or banana peppers. then the owner comes over and says its ok we can fix it. she hands them back to him and he proceeds to pick them off with his bare hands which he had not washed. I was disgusted that they were not wearing gloves or at least washing their hands. there food is usually pretty good but the customer service is CRAP and their dress code is quite frankly skanky to me. will never eat here again and will make sure everyone I know never does as well.

You can call your local health department about the conditions you saw at 916-875-5471 or 875-2808.

Valid complaint. If I experienced the above scenario, its doubtful I would go back.

I don't care about the dress code- they're making sandwiches, not running for political office- but the glove thing really grosses me out. I noticed the lack of gloves at the Brentwood location. It seems that all the BH Deli locations don't use gloves. They claim it's more sanitary to wash their hands between sandwiches, which is BS... especially when they don't.
