Overstock.com Complaint - Please do not shop with Overstock unless you plan on keeping your item
Hello all. I had the WORST experience ever with returning an item. I hope this might help you if you need to return anything. Here's my email conversation:
Customer (Elizabeth Hoang) 08/16/2010 09:44 PM
Here is the email I received:
A breakdown of your refund is shown below:
Item price: $61.99
Return Label Cost: -$6.58
Not Restockable: Odor: -$31.00
I am beyond offended to have even received this message. I obviously have not worn this winter coat except to try it on, because it's 100 degrees where I live. I tried it on and then returned it. If I had known that I would be penalized for trying on items purchased through your site, I would have not shopped on your site to begin with. As an avid online shopper, I have NEVER had such a horrible experience or problem with any other site before. I hope that perhaps this is just a misunderstanding and that you'll be able to assist me. If not, please let me know who I can contact before I escalate this issue to my bank and the Better Business Bureau. Thank you for your time.
Thank you for contacting Overstock.com regarding the amount of your refund for the return of the Esprit Women's Single-breasted Hooded Wool Jacket. I appreciate the opportunity to assist you today.
I apologize that we deducted part of your refund because of odor. As a onetime exception, we have issued an additional credit in the amount of $31.00 on 08/17/2010 to your credit card account. Please contact the issuing financial institution for posting time frames.
If you have any questions concerning our return policy, you may view the details at the following link:

If we may be of further assistance, please let us know. We appreciate your business and hope you will shop with us again soon.
I fully intend on waiting until my transaction has been returned and then emailing the CEO or anyone else to compensate me for the headache and hassle of dealing with their crappy returns department.
