Orbitz Complaint - Low Fare Promise is absolutely not true
I bought an airplane ticket 2 weeks ago on Orbitz. That exact same ticket (same flight, dates, class) is now $70 cheaper, it's been that price for almost a week. Orbitz has a Low Fare Promise, which turns out to be dishonest marketing. I tried to invoke that "Promise" but even though they are currently advertising the lower fare, they won't give it to me because they have a special condition on their program that states that another Orbitz customer has to actually book that same flight at that lower rate in order for Orbitz to give me that lower rate. I'm sorry but that's not a Low Fare Promise, because the low fare is actually available for anyone else to book. The problem with their "condition" is that I have no way of verifying whether or not someone else booked the same flight, so we rely on Orbitz' "honesty".... And even if 100 people book that same flight/class/date, they can still tell me that nobody did and not give me the refund. Because customers cannot check if another one booked the same ticket at a lower fare, Orbitz can decide at their convenience whether or not they provide a refund. In fact, they can actually never issue a single refund, nobody will know, and they can still advertise that Low Fare Promise just to increase sales.
I am very disappointed by their practice. It's hard to believe that nobody booked at that price for a week... It's angering me to see companies publish advertisement that is pure lie. Please do not encourage a company that lies, and that puts out plans that are not transparent to customers, and very deceiving. I am never buying anything from them again.
I'll use Expedia, or the airline directly.
