Maytag Corporation Complaint - And to think I used to be a Maytag fan...
I rec'd a recall letter from Maytag earlier this week instructing me to unplug it, etc., due to the electrical failure in the heating element. I immediately called the number provided to schedule a repair. The agent was nice enough, scheduled my appointment with a local service company, and gave me a confirmation number. They were to show up today - between Noon and 5:00 P.M. (what are they, the cable company?)
I arranged the afternoon off work, which is no easy task these days.
No one showed up, no one called.
At 6:00 p. m., I called Maytag back to let them know I wasn't happy. The agent wasn't so nice this time. She told me that this "isn't Maytag you're dealing with, it's an outside service company." So, this is where your responsibility ends, Maytag? She made no apologies, and told me there was nothing she or Maytag could do to help me, and that I needed to call the service company with which my appointment was made. She also told me that my appointment was still "open," and could still take place today. Like I now have nothing better to do than wait around all night.
I asked the agent whether it was important to Maytag to work with local service companies who treated their customers with respect. This means CALLING WHEN YOU CAN'T SHOW UP DURING THE SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT! She stated that they screen their local service companies. This was the only answer Ms. Maytag could muster.
I am no longer a Maytag customer. In this economy if corporations can't provide actual service to their already-established customers, there is no hope for them.
DON'T BUY MAYTAG - or Whirlpool, for that matter, since they own Maytag.
