Transmission Experts Of Renton Complaint - Air-Con Cons

Review by elper on 2010-08-19
I took my van to Transmission Experts of Renton for routine maintenance and have the a/c checked too (they said they do a/c also). Among other parts they said it needed a new condenser (after 3 times back & forth to the shop). A/C worked for a few hours. It turned out the condenser was not changed. They charged me $395 additional ("no labor cost this time otherwise its $600 additional")to my original bill of $1200. I check with an auto supply shop and a new condenser only cost less than $140. They were exposed by a so-called A/C certified tech who they hired to put the right freon.

This "A/C certified" said it needs a new condenser! Anyway the a/c worked for only 2 days. To date, more than 3 months later, I'm still "A/C-Less in Seattle"

Be thankful you don't live in Arizona ;)

Personally, I wouldn't get an A/C repair at a shop that specializes chiefly in other repairs, just my preference. As for the cost of the condensor that was quoted to you, almost every single repair shop, from an independent to a dealer, will without fail, mark up the cost of a part 300 to 400% over what you may find it retail. This practice and labor charges are the majority of their profit .
