DirecTV Inc Complaint - DirecTV employee complaint for the TECHNICIANS
I have been a technician for DirecTV for a long time and before that was a technician for COX (cable) for a long time. Many years of my life has been dumped into this terrible field work that sucks our souls dry and beats us into emotionless zombies from Everyone Go F--k Yourself Land. I would like to give some perspective from the techs point of view.
When a technician shows up at your house for an install or to troubleshoot a problem that you're having, always keep in mind that he hates his job more than you hate your worst enemy. He's hot, he's tired, and the very last thing he needs to hear is you yelling at him for something that you BOTH know has absolutely nothing to do with him. It's unfair, immature, and completely unnecessary. Be an adult, show some courtesy to guy that is ONLY there to help you, and don't talk to him like he's a f--king dog and feel justified in doing it just because you're a paying customer like EVERYONE ELSE.
If you're having satellite issues where the pictures is freezing or it says "searching for satellite", there is a number of things that could be going wrong from the dish to your boxes. It doesn't mean that DirecTV just suddenly decided to start f--king with you and flipped a switch to screw up your service. You don't have to know anything about this stuff to realize how absurd that is.
(EVERYONE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD REALIZE THIS)....PEOPLE ON THE PHONE ARE NOT AT YOUR HOUSE, CANNOT SEE THE INSTALLATION, MOST OF THEM HAVE NEVER BEEN IN THE FIELD A DAY IN THEIR LIVES, CAN TELL YOU ANYTHING THEY WANT IN ORDER TO SHUT YOU UP AND SCHEDULE A SERVICE CALL,.....AND A LOT OF THEM ARE OUTSOURCED TO ANOTHER COUNTRY AND/OR FRESH OUT OF TRAINING. DO NOT LISTEN TO THEM IF THEY ATTEMPT TO TELL YOU WHAT THE PROBLEM IS.....All that does is make you all pissed off when the tech shows up and explains to you what the real problem is and now you think that DirecTV doesn't know what they're talking about. When it comes to billing or programming, listen to the people over the phone. When it comes to you're physical hardware and installation at your house, leave it to the tech and take what they say over the phone with a grain of salt.
By the way. When it's 1,000,000 degrees outside and in the middle of the afternoon, don't expect us to run cable lines on INSIDE walls (which have to be ran from the attic). Stick you head up there for once in your life and maybe you'll understand why. It's just a tad warm.
I've had a lot of totally crappy jobs in my life. But so far, DirecTV is by far the sh-ttiest management I have ever had to work for and that's time I will never get back.
P.S. Enjoy your service
