Home Depot Complaint - Promotional Billing/Revolving balance issue
My husband and I have been long time Home Depot card holders and we really do like the products and services that we have received. We had our kitchen remodeled, and have repainted our entire home with Home Depot paint. We also buy odds and ends there on a regular basis.
We have been very pleased with the service we receive when we go to the store. Recently we had to purchase about $300 worth of supplies to build a fence in our yard. We were part of a promotional that allowed us to pay out the balance over 12 months with no interest. That's a great way to do business. We received our bill showing the promotional balance and also some misc. purchases were itemized on the bill.
I paid the misc. purchases in full and called to find out how that worked with paying on the promotional balance. I was told that whatever was paid above the misc. purchases would be put toward the balance. HOWEVER, on the next bill, it did not look right so I called and then was told that there were some purchases made AFTER I received my paper bill, but BEFORE the payment due date and part of my payment was applied to those charges!
That is a fraudulent, deceptive billing practice. I pay what my paper bill shows that I owe PLUS my monthly payment toward the promotional balance. I am NOT paying on charges I do not SEE on my paper bill. Those should be on my next paper bill.
The lady informed me that as of 2010, there was a new law enacted that stated you had to do it that way. There are NO OTHER department stores that do it that way. We have 2 other accounts that we pay in full each month and we are only responsible for what is on the actual bill.
Please reply. We will finish paying out our promotional balance, but do not plan on purchasing anything else from Home Depot. We will cut up our cards and take our business elsewhere.
