Mobile Device Protection Complaint - Mobile Device Protection is a Rip-off

Review by lizandromm on 2010-08-24
I lost my phone, which supposedly the service I purchased would cover for this loss. They blamed me for being negligent by leaving my phone on the restaurant table for few minutes and somebody stealing it. they do not want to replace it. Don't buy any type of service from this company. it is a major rip-off.

The very first paragraph on their website states they provide repair or replacement for damaged or stolen phones, so they do sound like a rip off.

I'm sure your service provider offers the same type of protection, you should consider purchasing through them and not a 3rd party company that obviously doesn't live up to it's claim.

Have you talked to your service provider?

Most major cell phone carriers do not offer protection against loss or theft in the plans they offer. If you are a homeowner you may want to check with your homeowner's policy, in some instances this loss may be covered.

the wording is very deceptive, they say they cover loss and theft then say they don't in the same policy. this is like having full coverage auto insurance then you get in an accident and they deny your claim because they say you were negligent because your car was not parked and locked in a garage at the time of the accident. I see a class action suit coming for these guys.

Sprint and Cellular South have insurance that covers loss and theft. not sure of other carriers.
