Quiznos Complaint - Rude and Doesn't Honor Coupons

Complaint
Review by SophieB on 2010-08-26
I printed out coupons for any sandwich, chips and drink for $2.99. When I presented it to the girl at the register the girl told me they are not accepting that coupon. Then the owner behind her came over and asked if there was a problem. When he I held up the coupon he rudely stated "NO... we are not honoring that coupon!!" I asked why not and he loudly just stated the same thing "NO we are not honoring that coupon"!!! No explanation as to why... and just walked away and stared at me.

I was so embarrassed by his rudeness that I went ahead and ordered a sandwich but I will never go back there again.

There was probably a good reason for not honoring the coupon, but it should have been politely explained to you instead of treating you like a criminal. I'm surprised you went ahead and ordered. I would have left.

Many places do not honor coupons printed out on a home printer. This is perfectly within their right, as every promotion has the discalimer, "At participating locations only." There is nothing that says they have to take part in the promotion, and they do not have to give you an explanation, it is their own policy. Rudeness, is demanding an explanation as to why they do not honor home-printed coupons or why theo not take part in a promotion. The answer is simple. It is their right as a franchise holder.

I'm with Venice. With that attitude, I would've left, sandwich or not.

Alex, I'm pretty easy going and overlook a lot, but if someone yells at me, that's it. As I said, I'm sure there is a good reason they wouldn't take the coupon and the owner might be tired of explaining it, but it's never acceptable to yell at a customer. The owner should certainly know better than to behave so inappropriately.

If Quiznos doesn't want to honor coupons printed at home, then they shouldn't post them on their website: http://quiznos.com/coupon.html

Agree with Venice and Alex, it may be at participating locations only, but no customer deserves to be yelled at, it's not like it says on the coupon itself which locations will/won't accept them.

I would have walked out w/o ordering, too.

I used to always print coupons and take them to quiznos never had a problem with them taking it. The food is grossly overpriced anyways those coupons will bring them some business. No wonder all the Quzinos near me shut down.

I agree wallyworld. I understand that some locations may not take coupons but how is the consumer to know which ones do and which ones don't? It can be just too confusing. I would have taken my business elsewhere with a rude manager like that one.

I get coupons all the time online from different companies. I print them out, and have never had a problem. I think the owner is just a cheapskate scrooge. I would have just walked out and not ordered a THING from them. I like quiznos, but they ARE grossly overpriced. Their commercials are annoying too.

Well the coupon clearly says "valid only at participating U.S. Quiznos". There is no requirement for them to honor it, it is up to the location.

That aside, the customer should have been treated much better.

The reason is because Quiznos forces inflated food prices on their owners, and then hits them again with unprofitable coupons. Most Quiznos barely turn a profit, and with corporate hitting them with inflated costs and low price coupons, the owners just can't win. Ever wonder why so many Quiznos close? That is why. Corporate is working against the owners really. I can respect the owners position not to accept the coupon, and you should too now seeing the plight they are in. Direct the hate at corporate.
