Nike Compliment - Drive like the pros! - golf ball

golf ball - Compliment
Review by Justice-4All on 2010-08-26
I am just a hack golfer with a lot of issues with the mechanics of my swing, so I look for every outside advantage I can find. New and improved clubs, flex shafts, etc...

Well, to the average person a golf ball is just a golf ball. That couldn't be any further from the truth. Each company puts out unique product that tries and tailor itself around a variety of different swing styles. Whether you drive the ball short, drive it long, hook it, slice it, spin it, etc...

I have the new "Power Distance-Soft" from NIKE. These are designed for players with a slower swing speed. I lower my swing speed in trade for driving the ball much more accurate. I hit an average of 16-17 fairways every single time I play. That is no exaggeration or bragging. I almost NEVER miss a fairway. But in return, I also don't drive nearly as far. That is until NIKE designed this ball. It has a softer core (lower compression) and a softened ionomer cover, which in turn allows the ball to travel farther. I'm back to an average drive of 200-250 yards. And I still have the accuracy!

Thanks NIKE for looking our for the amateurs as well...

Nice review!

Thanks! Customers all too often just pick up the first NIKE ball they see, or the ones that say NIKE Distance and such. But these three new types they developed are for swing speeds of fast, medium, and slow. Each designed different but with the same results. It pays to take the time to stand there in the aisle like I do and actually read the entire package.

Sounds neat J4A.

Come on, J4A, admit that you're using Nike because it's endorsed by Tiger Woods! :-)

goduke> I've always been a fan of Nike, Adidas, and such growing up in a sports atmosphere. I recently started playing golf a few years ago, and I just carried over using their stuff. I'd play an Adidas or Reebok ball if I could find it. (It doesn't hurt either that the #1 player in the world for the past 5-consecutive years happens to use the same brand;)

If your a hack golfer, then you don't keep count of the numbers of fairways you hit. You keep count of the number of balls you lose. Call me cynical but this review sounds more like a sales pitch.

Rockfishing> Stick around this site long enough and get to know some members before "cynically" evaluating them. My close friends and fellow members know what I do for a living, and it sure as hell ain't pitching for Nike. I could only be so lucky:o)

FYI...If your read the post in depth, you'd know that I don't lose balls because I always hit the fairway. But it comes with a cost...less distance for better accuracy. But this ball has helped me with increasing my driving distance, even with a slower and more accurate swing.

Hmmmm... The average golf course has at least 4 par threes if not more which means on average there are only 14 fairways yet this OP hits on average 16-17 fairways. Yeah I know most golfers fudge their numbers a bit but holy smokes this is some county fair blue ribbon fudge we got here. LMAO.

Still I must say it's a good review.

Too funny Stew. I figured you, an avid golfer, would pick up on that after I posted it. I play on a links style course here locally, and the par-3's have a certain amount of fairway or 1st cut in front of them, so I consider that to be the fairway. So long as I don't end up in the rough or sand traps on either side. Once again, your game of semantics has cost you the opportunity to see the review for what it really was...a compliment towards this style of ball for us slower, amateur drivers.

Maybe one day us ol' hacks can get together for a round:o)

Calm down Skippy I said it was a good review and gave you a helpful vote what more do you want.

Golf is for old men wearing plaid and stripes and a skip cap with a fuzzy ball on top. Not what I had pictured you as J4A.
But still a very helpful review for those old men!

I too was paying you a compliment Stew...asking another to play golf someday isn't something I just ask anybody. I have to be able to stand that person for at least 18-holes you know!
Posted by Justice-4All on 2010-08-27:
Sorry DB, but golf has come a long way since the days of Payne Stewart.

Of who?????
Posted by rockfishing on 2010-08-27:
I'm sorry, as a true hack I did not notice that you did not mention how many shots you took to get to the green from all these fairways you are hitting. Along with your putting. I'll have to start reading better.

rockfishing...I only said the ball helped me gain distance on my drives. I never said it helped me in my short game...lol @ myself! That's still a work in progress.

How can you hit 16 - 17 fairways considering there are almost always 4 par 3s on a course? The most you should be able to hit is 14 and thats assuming there are no short par 4s that you can drive. Also, an average drive of 200 -250 is a big difference. Even a hacker can hit a ball 200 but 250 requires about 105 mph swing speed with good contact and good launch angle.
