Cingular Wireless Complaint - Current customers get treated poorly when upgrading service
It's a real shame that Cingular (and other cell providers for that matter) give the shaft to existing customers.
Case in point. We've been an AT & T (now Cingular via merger) customer for more than 2 years now, on the TDMA network with 3 lines on a family shared plan.
Since my 2 year obligation is satisfied, I now want to upgrade to the GSM network and the better phones such as the Motorola MPx220, V550 or Razor.
When I call or visit a store, I find that NONE of the phone deals are applicable to me, as a "dedicated" subscribed of their service.
If I'm a new customer, I could get an MPx220 for FREE after two rebates from BestBuy.com, however, if I'm an existing customer - PAY $399!!! WHAT A JOKE!
I've paid my bill on time for 2+ years and some new customer gets a FREE PHONE for the same additional 2 year committment I am willing to make?
It's unfortunate that the policies of the cell phone companies basically force you to switch providers to get the latest phones at the best prices when your plan is up. I guess it's time to look at the competition!
