Farmers Insurance Company Complaint - Nightmare Experience - Get Rid of Farmers Insurance IMMEIDATELY

Review by Logangsd123 on 2010-08-30
In summary, the compressor for my 4 yr old AC went bad. I have never had a homeowner's claim in my life and I have owned a home for over 20 years. I spoke with several Farmer's Insurance agents regarding my situation, and they were a nightmare...especially the "claims adjustor." They were all very rude and flat out abusive. The adjustor was rude, unprofessional, wouldn't return calls, misrepresented everything about Farmer's Insurance and I caught him in several lies. I explained to the AC repairman what was going on and he said in his 25 years of repairing AC units, he has never heard of a more worse experience that I had with Farmer's Insurance. He also advised that he had several friends and customers that had similar experiences with Farmer's Insurance. I did some research and discovered they had very bad ratings. I immediately changed my home owner's insurance to another company and even discovered that my coverage was much better at a much better price. The best part of this situation is that I discovered how bad Farmer's Insurance was before I had a disasterous claim (such as a fire, tornado) and am so glad I changed insurance companies when I did. In summary, if you have Farmer's Insurance get rid of them AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, before you have a claim....because they will lie to you and totally misrepresent everything they do and will not be there when you need them.

I didn't know that homeowner's insurance covered AC repair.

I could be wrong but I've never heard of homeowners insurance covering breakdowns of air conditioners or heaters. That's like them insuring you if your washing machine breaks down. Telling you an item is not covered does not constitute bad or rude service. You need to check your policy.

I'm not familiar with Farmer's Insurance but was this a claim for lightning or possibly flood damage? I don't recall you stating the cause of the claim other than the compressor on your A/C went out. Please come back and clarify.

I was wondering about that also. We had to replace our a/c unit a few years ago, and it had to be paid out of pocket. Our insurance didn't cover it.

I am with the others, what was the reason the a/c broke?

Was this like a central AC system, kinda like a central heating system? That may be why it should have been covered? I had work done on my heating system a couple of years ago and it was covered by my homeowners insurance, so I'm wondering if this would be similar?

Way too little info - you're certainly blasting a company, but have provided nothing in support of why they should fix your A/C system.
