Sears Complaint - Extended Warranty means Extended time to get Service
I purchased a new mower and extended service agreement in March 2010. I experienced problems with the blade bolt seating in the mandrel. I contacted Sears Warranty department and after answering several qualifying questions, was scheduled for a service call 20 days hence.
My grass is over my ankles now, and will be well over my knees by that time. When I spoke with the CS supervisor, I was told that they were very busy due to the summer season.
It was a bit unfortunate that my mower had a problem during mowing season - but I realized that when you pre-pay for service, the incentive may not be there to properly provide the service, or at least in a timely manner.
I bought the protection in case the (two) transmissions or engine were to go out - but it took something minor to point out the drawback of the extended warranty.
It's a shame, as I have always had the experience that the Sears Brand stood for customer satisfaction. In this case, it is lacking.
