Cheapcaribbean.com Complaint - They took my money and ran - Trip to Cozumel

Trip to Cozumel - Complaint
Review by weluvcozumel on 2010-09-02
I booked a trip to Cozumel using cheapcaribbean.com. Typically I would not go this route but we had limited time to book and needed things to be hassle free due to a family situation that took up most of our summer. We have bben going to Cozumel every year for the past 6 and will continue our annual trips...certainly not booking with cheapcaribbean again. We arrived at the Allegro and received no help with luggage to or from our room, there was no ATM as advertised, no buffet, no beach bar and the pool bar closed @ 5:00pm. The only bar open after that was more than 100 yards from either the beach or pools. We weren't there to get drunk but a soda or water would have been nice. The food offered from their 3 item menu at each meal service was not good and you rarley got what you ordered. Sometimes no tortillas with fajitas!! We had roaches, spiders and lizards in our room, also wet paint that wrecked one of my husbands shirts the first night. The bedding smeled like mildew even after being changed. There were no activities for children or adults, unless you include the 45 minutes of singing in the bar one night and 30 minutes of dancing on the stage the next night. Basicaly we spent 5 days being very hungry and thirsty. The snorkels leaked and the beach was not groomed. When I contacted cheapcaribbean.com upon our return I was told we were victims of "Off Season cut backs" and offered $100 toward our next booking with their company...seriously??my husband and I are still laughing about that. We paid all-inclusive rates and received a motel room and they think $100 will fix the issue. We paid more than that getting taxis to town for food and use of ATM machines. The ruined shirt cost $50 do the math. It's also more than CRAZY that they would think we would book through them again for $100 savings...REALLY!!?? We will continue our Cozumel trips and we will book on our own and take on some of the work...we will NOT ise cheapcaribbean.com and we will not stay at an Allegro or Occidental property. Please note that thare was never a disclosure anywhere stating we would get less than advertised because we were traveling the "Off Season" We have always traveled the off season so we can bring the kids and not have them miss school and we have never experienced this!! HAHAHAHAHA $100...funny...really funny

This sounds more like a complaint against the hotel... All of these things would have been the same had you booked this property directly or through another agency.

I guess if you think $100 toward booking is a good way for cheapcaribbean to deal with the false advertising on their web page then go ahead and book with them...We have only had one other "Bad" experience in Cozumel, and called our booking company who moved us to a different resort within 2 hours of the phone call. The booking company should be checking that each resort they contract with is delivering what they offer. Check out cheapcaribbean.com's reviews as of late. 2.4 out of 5 stars average in the past year. Yes the resort had it's issues but by booking through a company they are to help take care of those issues, that's why you use them and not book yourself.. There were at least 2 other couples at the Allegro who made calls to their booking company and were moved. Typically resorts want to keep their contracted booking company happy and that company wants it's customers happy. Some company's include a disclosure letting you know that certain resorts cut back during the low travel seasons, cheap caribbean did not do this, and as I said we always travel the same time each year and have been treated better because there were fewer guests. Thank you for your input, I most certainly will not book with Allegro or cheapcaribbean.com again but as I said feel free to book cheapcaribbean....GOOD LUCK!! To each their own, I felt it was important to let people know that Cheap Caribbean was not checking up on it's contracted reorts or offering customer service.

you're complaint really is with the hotel, not with the CC.

Wow sounds like you had a lot of problems at the resort. What did cheap caribbean say when you contacted them during your trip? You said that you called cheap caribbean upon your return but I would assume if the resort was as bad as you say that you made certain to call and let them know how unhappy you were there. I mean you can't just demand a refund when you get home about how horrible the resort was and you didn't even attempt to call the company you booked through for assistance. I am sure cheap caribbean could have moved you to another resort so you could enjoy the rest of your trip. I mean think about it, if a travel company just refunded every customer that complains when they get home from their trip then that company would never last very long. Honestly, I don't blame them for not giving you a refund if you didn't even let them know while you were there.
