Groove Toyota Complaint - Deceptive business practices and poor service

Review by cjcardillo on 2010-09-05
ENGLEWOOD, CO -- Bought a used Honda CR-V from this dealership. Dealer added a $500 "administration fee" at the last minute, after refusing to budge on the sticker price. Never mentioned this fee until it was time to sign. Only provided one key - didn't bother to provide a 2nd one.

You still can walk out the door before you sign. If they don't give you your deposit check back just cancel the check. Twenty or thirty dollars is still cheaper than $500. If that's important to you you can try to get that back in small claims court. You need to play hardball with these people. When you walk out 9 times out of 10 they call you back in and you can squeeze a few extras out of them. The games is not over until you sign. Buying a car is like a poker game, don't let them bully you. If you don't like something, call their bluff and leave. There are a lot of cars out there.

Unless it was in the fine print somewhere, I agree with rock. There is no way I would just hand over an additional $500. I agree about the key too, especially if it's one of those expensive ones.

definitely agree with the others. If you would have gotten up and started walking away, I guarantee you, he would have been running after you and have taken the fee off.

Once or twice when I've bought cars, the people I've dealt with have been pleasant and resaonable. But that is certainly the exception to the rule.

Prince-Caesar is right, though. The key is to be ready to walk. It's a pain because you sit around in one of those places while these guys jack you around for hours. Then they throw one of these last-minute curve balls at you and you're thinking how much of a drag it will be to start the whole thing over somewhere else.

Always be ready to walk.
