Navigation GPS Complaint - Didn't ever work - InVion

Review by Susy Q2 on 2010-09-05
My husband bought this GPS for me that I had wanted for awhile as a Christmas gift a couple of years ago. It never worked from the day that we opened the box. It displays this message that says there are no maps inside the device and the cd that came with it won't download on my pc. I bought a chip with maps already on it for another $40.00 and still it doesn't work. I'm very upset with this company, my husband & I own a business and do not always have the time to track down companies who won't refund your money anyway.

So any suggestions on what a person should do when they feel as if they have been robbed?

you got it as a Christmas gift "a couple of years a go" and expect them to refund your money now? If it didn't work from day 1, you should have returned it at that time.

I also do not understand since you were having issues from day one, why you didn't do something about it back then. By now you would also need new map uploading software, due to the fact new streets are added just about everyday here in the good ol' USA.

Isn't InVion one of those brands sold by Aldi? I would have paid a few bucks more and got a well known GPS device. I am happy with my Garmin.

ooo yeah Garmin is the industry standard ;)

i have one of their handheld ones that i use for geocaching.
can't use it for driving tho, not without someone with me to read the unit i mean.

Ill tell you, I purchased my first GPS at Staples. They were runnign a 99 dollar special on a GPS. It was a brand I never heard of called Navigon. I absolutely LOVE it. I used to use it daily when I was a chauffeur, and hardly ever had problems. It also had features that the name brand GPS's had, at twice or triple the price. And get this.....they offer FREE map upgrades. I just upgraded my map at their website and didn't cost me a penny.

as a matter of fact, I think that company deserves a compliment.

I agree. If something doesn't work from day one, it goes right back to the store. I have had a Garmin for a few years now. I upgrade it with new information on-line all the time for free too. Hasn't failed us yet, except in Boston. Everyone I know that has used a GPS in that city has had problems. So, they aren't fail-safe. You should still bring a map when you're in unfamiliar places or get directions on-line, just to be sure.
