RK Automotive Complaint - Avoid RK

Review by NKaty on 2005-02-18
HAMPTON, VIRGINIA -- First, I have to say that I walked away from RK with a sweet deal two years ago. I bought a new Volvo at a great price and got unbeatable financing. HOWEVER, I had to watch every pen stroke that was made. They messed up the VIN number, tried to bait and switch a financing deal, disqualified me for a buyers incentive, and made several other "clerical" errors that could have cost me a bundle. Luckily I was paying attention, called Volvo of North America, and got legal guidance. I kicked @#% and took names, reporting each employee my name. Interestingly, Volvo told me that they had other complaints, and that RK would be losing their franchise, which they did about a year later.

Now, in the end what I think happened was that the sales manager took my price, assuming that he could recoup with a trade for the Volvo that I had driven in to the dealer. I had never planned to trade, and he was caught in a situation where he tried to make up the lost money any way he could.

I was exhausted, but in the end I got a great deal on a great car and RK lost their franchise.

Dear NKaty,
Thank you for your comments on the great car you bought at the great price. Good to hear that you also got a great financing deal. You were right to carefully review the paperwork on your transaction. Sorry it didn't go so well.
About 1 year ago, we decided to transfer the franchise to another dealer under favorable conditions.
