Maytag Corporation Informative - Dishwasher is Quite, Stylish and Cleans Glasses Spotless!
This was a replacement for the factory recall of model MDBH955AWS due to it being a fire hazard. I purchased this one online from Sears and picked up at the store because at checkout it tried to charge $79 for the free delivery. Picked up that afternoon at Sears and the box was damaged but I was assured everything inside was ok. Unpacked the box at home and found the rear part of the frame was broken so I drilled some holes and inserted sheet metal screws to hold it together. “Yep, I took pictures.” Apparently the Maytag clinching method of joining metal parts is not very strong neither is the shipping container. Installation went great all except for the new style water inlet connection so I made a special trip to Lowe's to get an adapter, Watts Dishwasher Elbow A-158A, about $4. Not sure why Maytag did not just throw one in the bag for this top of the line appliance since it is the only way to connect the water supply inlet. “Looks like a garden hose fitting”, however it does have a filter screen on water inlet and this connector can be removed easily to clean the screen if clogged. Amazing how a magnet sticks to this Stainless Steel appliance. The thing I am most impressed with is it is so quite you can hardly hear it running and glasses come out spotless! The racks are adjustable although do not appear to be as sturdy as some other brands. I would definitely recommend this model if you can catch it on sale like at 30% off plus the $250 credit from Maytag. Some stores sell this model as a refurbished machine at a lower price but at $500 final cost for this factory brand new one is fairly reasonable. I did not buy the extended warranty because I can do sixth grade math.
