Dish Network Complaint - Beware of customer service and errors on accounts!!!
After upgrading my system to allow for HD which the service technician installed, Dish Network lost records for the old equipment the technician recovered as he did the job. This did not come to light until almost 1 year later when I found a $300 billing for a receiver they claim I retained. I called and discussed this with the customer service department. They referred it to the installation department who said they would have it taken care of. Several months later, I received a call stating that they were having problems with my telephone connection to my receivers and keeping the programming upgraded and needed me to verify my receiver serial numbers. I considered this to be a simple issue and agreed to do so. It was then disclosed to me that they were really doing this because they didn't believe I did not have their receiver and needed to verify that I was not currently using it. I didn't hear more for about 2 months when I found another attempt to bill my credit card for the missing receiver. I called their customer service department, spent about 2 hours between talking to someone and being placed on hold only to be accidentally connected to another customer who started yelling at me saying how upset he was with his own issues. After several minutes of out yelling back and forth, we discovered that the lines had been somehow crossed and he was a disgruntled customer the east coast, I was on the west and we were both ticked off !!!! When I finally called back into Dish Network's "customer service", they said they would look into the matter and get back to me. I later heard from the installation department who said they would interview the installer and get back to me. I never heard back from installation. I did have the charge back on my credit card. I contacted the credit card company and disputed the charge. Dish Network said it was justified and resubmitted the charge. I again sent a letter and disputed the charge. Tonight, I find that my programming is off. I called into customer service and they tell me that my account is 3 months past due because I refuted the receiver charge and they will no longer accept my credit card!!! I have no credit issues with anyone except Dish Network!! These people are unbelievable!!! Finally, tonight, 9/9/10 the executive resolution team has found the error, the record that the tech was to collect the equipment and they promise to have corrected my account. This has been one hell of an experience and I hope no one else has to experience it!!! Customer service is the worst.
