Geld-Wen Complaint - Never Buy Geld-Wen - French Doors
This is a copy of the letter that I sent to the CEO of Lowe"s
Dear Mr Niblock.
I am writing to you because Lowes is an agent for Geld-Wen Doors. In the past six weeks I have bought and contracted installation for a garage door, bathroom tile, two windows and two entry doors. The performance on the part of Lowe's located at 4880 N. Nevada Avenue in Colorado Springs has been nothing but remarkable and I commend them to you. However, one day after the installation of a Geld-Wen French door, the mini-blind inside the glass door would not raise up. I notified Lowe's who in turn requested that I contact Geld-Wen. I have been in contact with Geld-Wen on fiver separate occasions; each time was met with a rude response (as an example quote the following: Peter-" I have contacted Lowe's and they said that their technician would take care of the problem".
Geld-Wen: "Oh really? Is their technician going to pay for it?")
Patiently I have tried to trace the progress of a replacement for the defective door, after going through the diagnostic steps that were recommended by Geld-Wen. Each time I called I was deflected and finally reached the Arizona division responsible for ordering and replacing the door. At one point Geld-Wen told me that I was not in the system and then realized that they had misspelled by name. Finally I was told that one of their technicians would call me. Two weeks have gone by and I decided to order a Pella door from Lowe's to replace the defective Geld-Wen door; at a cost far greater than I had originally spent. I would also like to direct your attention to Googling Geld-Wen under 'complaints; and you will find ample evidence that both their product as well as their guarantees are similar; they are not worth the price consumers are paying.
I have sent a copy of this letter to Geld-Wen, Consumer Reports and to the Better Business Bureau. It is my hope that you consider not representing Geld-Wen as their poor customer service practices reflect on Lowe's as they do not allow Lowe's to provide warranty service work on their products.
Having had a disappointing and costly experience with Geld-Wen, I am plead to tell you that I am absolutely pleased with my local Lowe's response to this matter and I remain a loyal customer.
