Assurant Health Complaint - Assurant Health - You never know when the bill is finally paid

I have a high deductible health plan with Assurant. The way it works is that you go to a doctor or clinic, they submit the charges to Assurant, Assurant makes a note of how much was incurred against your high deductible, tells the doctor's office to bill the patient. But in that process, it seems like maybe sometimes they negotiate a deal for the patient. For example - your bill is $150. The doctor submits to Assurant, Assurant records the allowable amount of deductible satisfied, and maybe negotiates the price down to $100. The doctor's office submits a bill to me that shows $150 of medical services, less $50 "insurance payments and adjustments". I pay the $100 out of my HSA. That should be the end of the matter. But no. Apparently Assurant decides later that the discount they negotiated wasn't correct (or maybe they paid something and realized that they weren't supposed to). They change it to $25. Now I get another bill for $25. And this could go on indefinitely. I am no longer a customer of Assurant, so they don't care about past billing. This exact situation happened twice to me. Thank god I was able to find insurance elsewhere. Buyer beware! If you go with their high deductible plan, expect more bills even after you think you've paid your part.
