MODERN NISSAN OF WINSTON-SALEM NC Complaint - Repairs Done On My Pathfinder
WINSTON-SALEM, NORTH CAROLINA -- I purchased a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder at Modern Nissan 6 yrs ago. It had everything I wanted in a SUV and the price was right. I bought it used, but it was practically new, only 21,000 miles on it. I only found one problem with the gas pedal, which I took to the dealers service dept 4 times before it finally got fixed. I didn't have any other problems, I always took it there to be serviced. But then they went through a major remodel, then it seemed like the price of everything went up too. So I started to take my SUV to another place. One day while shutting my liftgate the part it locks onto came out of the bumper. The gate had always been sort of loose, and I just assumed it was the way it was made. But when I took it to the Modern Nissan to see if the extended warranty I purchased covered it, i was told no. That was when I discovered the "extended" warranty I purchased covered the car from the "in service" date until it expired on 9/2004 or 85000 miles. The problem I had with that was I wasn't the owner of the car for the 1st 2 yrs. But putting that aside I asked them how much to fix the liftgate so I didn't have to tie it shut and could use it again. They told me for $430.00 they would have to cut a hole in my bumper to get the part out that had fallen in, they they could out the nuts back on it and tighten them down. I told I don't think so and took it to my new service guys. For a mere $12.00 they took a magnet secured the piece to the other and tightened the nuts to the other piece. My lift gate was better than before. So I wrote a nasty e-mail to Modern Nissan and told them I would gladly buy another Nissan, but they wouldn't touch it only if it needed warranty work.
