Anderson (EMCO) Consumer Review Complaint - Poorest designed door on the planet

Review by wboggs on 2010-09-18
This door will last, maybe 2 months before needing an overhaul. The first thing you’ll notice is that the stationary glass is on top and the screen in the bottom panel. Well since heat rises and you install doors like this to let the heat out, the door is upside down; virtually worthless as far as ventilation is concerned. Then within a couple of months you’ll start replacing screens regularly. Since the screen is on the bottom and people typically use their hip to push the door open when something’s in their hands, your hip pushes the screen out of the frame so regular screen replacements will be in your future if you buy this. I called the company to see if there was a way to alter the door so it worked like anyone would expect it to and not need constant screen replacements and my answer was basically, “you’re stuck with it”, and that means I’m stuck with two brand new disastrous doors that don’t ventilate my home.

Great price though till you have to replace them with ones that work.

Didn't you know what the door looked like before you bought it? I though all storm doors had the glass on top and the screen on the bottom. That's the way mine is and I don't have any problems with it.
