Carnival Cruise Line Complaint - Recent Western Caribbean Cruise
My family and I recently went on an 8 night Caribbean Cruise aboard the Freedom Ship. Considering these cruises are supposedly geared towards families we were quite surprised to see the antics that take place on deck. The music was a steel drum band - quite nice by itself. The dancing of some of the passengers that was allowed - surprising. I have nothing against dancing, but do people really need to grind their way all around deck in front of kids and all! Towards the end of the cruise, they held a "Mr. and Miss Freedom" contest. We were completely shocked at how the "contestants" competed for their "title". Every single female felt compelled to give us a show complete with stripper moves. They even used the deck bannisters as poles to aid their moves. I have young children - impressionable to say the least - and we were mortified. How do you explain to your kids that in order to Win you must grind and shake everything for everyone to see including views of your private parts. I witnessed girls as young as seven trying to mimic the moves after "Miss Freedom" won! Great way to give my kids an instant education!
What a trashy way to have fun. I have been on other cruises before and can only say that the atmosphere of other cruises was much more sophisticated. This one wasn't.
In addition, when you utilize the spa be aware that they try to push their products quite a bit. Although the girls are very accommodating, you couldn't help but wonder what the hard sell was about. I'm fairly reasonable - if I like it make a recommendation and let it go. You can tell they are trained to sell-sell-sell. Also, beware of the Ionothermie treatments as well. I received a burn to my thigh from one of the pads they used. The manager credited me for the cost of the treatment, but that was it. It is now 2 weeks later and I have a scar at the location of the burn.
Don't think I'll be taking a Carnival Cruise anytime in the future.
