B&N Roofing & Remodeling Complaint - Shoddy work & over priced

Review by Maggie Rose on 2010-09-24
FAIR GROVE, MISSOURI -- Was given est for removal of debris of old overhang & build new one & repair shed as needed. Shed was not completed & where one board was replaced, shingles messed up so board will get wet & not last. Overhang does nothing it was suppose to do, shade from sun & protect from rain. Complained about materials before put up & after it was up. The man was hateful on the phone & in person to me. We've called a couple of times & he won't return calls. The overhang is above roof on one side, flashing is not right & shingles on roof messed up. It doesn't prevent sun from coming in window or protect from rain. The wood is getting wet which will rot & not last. You can't walk out the back door without getting wet. A neighbor who does his own work told how much he probably spent on materials & with the debris removal, it was way overpriced. You said not to mention names but instead of having check made to company, he had made to him & people will not know company name, just his name which is Bobby Hilburn of Fair Grove.

You always want to pay half upfront to cover the cost of the materials. You pay the other half on completion and inspection of the work as to insure that the work was done to your liking. Not really sure what recourse you have since he has all of the money now. You can try small claims court. Good luck

In the future, when you're going to do work on your house, try Angie's List. It has contractors recommended by others, like us, that have had them work on their homes. No one is going to give a recommendation for someone that has done shoddy work.

As for your present situation, I agree with Restaurant Guy. I would definitely try small claims court if they do not come through for you. I hate to hear these stories of contractors ripping people off. They give the good ones a bad name too. I don't think judges think too highly of them either.
