Magellan Complaint - Their 2009 Maps Update Are Incomplete
Last year I paid Magellan $60 for the map updates for my Magellan and quickly found that the maps did not include several of the more popular sites that people would commonly use. I contacted Magellan with my complaint, giving them 4-5 examples of the sites that were unknown and their representative told me that it was because those vendors didn't subscribe to their service. I contacted the vendors and they told me that was not true.. eg: Costco, San Dimas, CA. To get a second source, I went to Sears where I bought the unit and they told me that was BS and showed me on their Magellan Roadmate that Costco and each of the other sites were correctly identified. I called Magellan back and told them that I wanted a refund of the $60 I paid for map updates or a free copy of the next they came out with. I got no response from Magellan after that and continue to use the maps that originally came with the unit because the SD Memory chip they sent me made my Magellan Maistro respond too slowly on startup and randomly shutoff during regular operation. An issue that I have not contacted Magellan about is the pronounciation of many of the street names and locations. I don't know why the pronounciations are so weird, but fortunately, I have the written name at the bottom of the screen for verifiation when I need it... it's just inconvenient when I am driving to look down at the screen to read the small print of the names. Thank you in advance for any assistance you might provide concerning these issues.
