Days Inn Complaint - This is why you should not be spontaneous!!!
ALBANY, NEW YORK -- We had a reservation all set at Motel 6 in Albany, which was 6 miles away from my daughter's college. Until...my father came with us and he didn't want to go that far (he was a bit cranky-70 yrs old). I cancelled the reservation, so, they could sell our unneeded room.
My mom found a Days Inn. My dad was okay with that idea. So, my mother checked into the motel and it seemed to be taking forever. I was sent into see what was taking soooo long.
First off, the lady at the front desk had no (smile) expression on her face and secondly there was no eye contact. (This is very important part of customer service at any motel/hotel/inn no matter what).
Third, we went into our room and I had to go to the bathroom. As I was doing my duty, I noticed the tub. The tub didn't look like a housekeeper had touched it....it had hair in the tub on the side of the tub. As I was washing my hands, I noticed the ice bucket and thought great I will go get ice. I finished washing my hands. I picked up the bucket and removed the lid. To my wondering eyes. Yes. The ice bucket and the cover was dirty. I cleaned it.
I told my parent where I was going "to get ice" and my father said, "where's the ice liner"? I told him, "there is no ice liner, this isn't Motel 6" and walked out the door.
I came back with some ice and a ginger ale.
We left a hour later to do things with my daughter at her college. We left her and her friend at the college to return to the inn. If we ate at the "Across the Street Pub" for dinner and show we were staying at the Days Inn we got a discount. So that is what we did.
The food at the restaurant was filling and excellent. I highly recommend the restaurant.
After dinner, we return to our room. We were exhausted from the two hour drive and the long day, plus, the wonderful food. We retired to our bed to sleep. Surprise, surprise!!!! The fire alarm went off at 4:30am and people sticking their heads out their doors "whats happening?". I have the door open myself. I'm speaking to my parents about getting up and getting out (dad's trying to turn off the alarm) and I'm telling others grab a housecoat and go outside. I tried to keep them calm. Well, the fire department showed up and cleared it so we could go back in.
But, while outside, several of the customers were complaining how every time they stay at this motel something like this happens and they were not going to be staying here anymore.
