Briggs and Stratton Complaint - Troy Built pressure washer built by Briggs and Stratton-Junk

Review by Kingrahoo on 2010-09-25
I purchased a Troy Bilt Pressure washer in April 2009 and have used it about 8 hours. In September it was returned to the retailer for service as it would not work (no pressure). I found out that this washer is built by Briggs and Stratton. They declined to repair the pump under the original warranty stating that the pump had been corroded by "hard water". Pump saver was used over last winter and the washer is always kept indoors. I guess I am the only one in my neighborhood with "hard water". None of my neighbors have had this problem. I also had a "Craftsman washer" for eight years before I bought this one. I never had "hard water" problems with it. I can understand having problems with machinery. I cannot understand why a company like Briggs and Stratton will not honor their warranty. I thought Troy Bilt was a good and respectful company. Little did I know that Briggs and Stratton actually manufactures these under the name of Troy Bilt....Be careful what you buy.........

Briggs and Stratton's heritage, and their main business to this day I believe, is engines. They are amazing - I have a 1974 engine on my tractor that runs like a top. And their customer service is outstanding - they will actually make a change to the flywheels of these old engines to convert them from points to electronic, for *free*. They also continue to have parts available to repair them.

Maybe they acquired the company that makes the pumps. I'm sorry you are having this trouble.
