U-Verse Complaint - Return of Modem

Review by dlashb on 2010-09-25
Earlier this year I cancelled my AT&T you verse because the service was horrible. The woman I spoke to provided me with the return number for UPS to send the DVR back. I asked about the modem and she told me AT&T doesn't take back the modem and said most people are selling them on Craigslist between $20 - $25. Odd as it sounded, I hung on to the modem for a couple of weeks and returned the DVR immediately. I sold the modem for $25. Months later, I get a bill from AT&T for $159. for the modem. The "random recording" AT&T tells you about prior to any live conversation can't be found. AT&T swears up and down they didn't tell me that and it's policy to return the modem. BS I say. I know what I was told and they couldn't care less. Anyone else experienced this?

I think it probably would have been a good idea to return EVERYTHING that is property of AT&T, regardless of what a voice on the phone tells you.
