Vonage Complaint - Hidden contract and disconnection fees
HOLMDEL, NEW JERSEY -- I called to disconnect my phone service and was informed that I have a two-year contract with Vonage about which I was never informed and there would be a disconnect fee of $42.79 about which, again, I was never informed. I signed up for their service, according to them in May, 2009. When I click on the link for the disconnect fee on their website, I received an ERROR 404 message. The representative overseas placed the fee on my credit card before disconnecting my service and both he and his manager refused to credit it back. I advised them I would be placing the charge in dispute for non-disclosure and contacted my credit card company. I also emailed Vonage and plan to send a copy of the email to their corporate headquarters, whose address is: 23 Main Street
Holmdel, NJ 07733.
I am providing copies of my correspondence to the BBB, FCC, FTC, and the Florida Attorney General's Office, as well. These tactics are used by so many companies anymore because they "know" no one will argue with them. They are making millions of dollars off unsuspecting customers. We need to stand up to these companies or expect to get ripped off even more.
