ANCHORAGE, ALASKA -- My husband and I landed in Anchorage airport at 2 am in the morning, after a 10 hour flight. Looked forward to our rental car from dollar which we had booked online weeks back. However we reached the dollar kiosk only to be told that the kiosk was closed and their employees had gone home (while all the other rental car kiosks were open). There was no note, no apology, nothing. Stranded at the airport we then called our hotel, which sent us a car immediately. (that's called customer service, dollar)
However, after 3 hrs of sleep we returned back to the airport at 6 am to take the rental car which we had booked for the entire trip. (we had to drive outside anchorage for a v expensive cruise the same morning). Only to be told by the lady who was back at her desk that she had already given the ONLY car to some other customer last night itself. (even though we had our reservations, and she knew our flight details)
We finally got a car from another rental last minute for the entire trip (budget rental and it was darn good). Dollar seems to feel that they are doing the customers a favor by taking their dollars while providing terrible service.
DONT GO WITH DOLLAR CAR RENTAL. pay a few bucks more for better and more reliable service elsewhere.
