LaQuinta Inns Complaint - Dirty, run down rooms

Review by Walt2 on 2010-09-27
PIGEON FORGE, TENNESSEE -- The hotel room was reviewed on the internet and it looked good. Upon our check-in at LaQuinta in Pigeon Forge, TN on Sunday, Sept 20, 2010 we immediately noticed a severe foul order in room 200. I went to the front desk and asked for some spray. We then went to dinner and bed early. The odor was so bad that we could not sleep and the carpet was filthy dirty. We were traveling with 2 handicapped ladies and a small dog so moving was a major task. I got up and opened the window to get some fresh air but the bugs came in so I has to reclose it. After a sleepless night and my sister coughing all night from allergies, my husband left at 6:00 A.M. and obtained a room for us in another hotel. We then checked out and moved. This is totaly unacceptable service, and we have stayed in LaQuinta Hotels several times before and had a wonderful experience.
With all of the diseases in today's world a dirty hotel is the last place I want to be. Also the commode would not flush properly and was nearly falling over in the floor.

What did the manager on site say when you addressed your concerns with him/her?

The smell would have caused me to leave immediately before settling in. If someone has allergies, a spray is not a good idea. You should have at least asked for a different room. I don't know why you attempted to stay in a room that smelled so bad.

I understand that moving was a major task, but I think it would have been better than spending the night suffering.

I'm sorry you had such a horrible experience. Did the manager offer to give you another room due to the smell? As for asking them for spray, not sure what they gave you, but that spray most likely also aggravated your sister's allergies. The minute you entered that room and caught that smell, packing and settling in should of been your last choice. You don't know what you were breathing in by sleeping in that room all night. Your description of the commode alone would of had me ask for another room.

Good thing your husband found a better hotel for you all to stay in.
