VRBO #211410 Complaint - VRBO Unit #211410 Security Deposit Theft

Review by robynp3 on 2010-09-27
SANTA ROSA BEACH, FLORIDA -- The owner of this unit makes a habit of stealing your security deposit. Be forewarned, before you rent this property he will steal your $200 deposit. He has refused to return any calls or emails and the property was left in pristine condition. He has turned off reviews on the VRBO site so that any of his victoms can not leave negative posts. VRBO needs to rethink their website and how thieves like this undermine the integrity of their rental system.

Sounds like a case for small claims court.

I have always insisted on an inspection upon arrival, and another mutually signed inspection sheet upon leaving, with pictures if necessary. How much of the $200 was supposed to be refundable?

You should send them a letter, via certified mail, requesting a breakdown of the damages so that you can see what the security deposit was used for. If there is no response, that is when I would take them to small claims court.
