American Power Conversion (APC) Compliment - APC - Helpful Company

Review by Taurus212 on 2005-03-01
RHODE ISLAND -- Back in November I was looking for an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) unit for the computer I was about to purchase.

After a lot of Internet searching, and finding UPSes either too expensive or not quite powerful enough for my needs, I chanced writing an e-mail to American Power Conversion asking for help- "chanced", because I figured I would likely be ignored, which seems standard practice for most businesses.

Instead, I was given a reply within 3 hours suggesting a model (I forget which) that was just under the maximum price I specified ($140).

It was workable financially, but the power rating was iffy, so I wrote back asking the customer service rep. if he was *positive* his suggestion would cover my requirements- 'cause I would be a very angry customer if I had to go through returning the unit and finding something else.

Less than two hours later he wrote back with this idea: buy a Back-UPS ES models 500 & 725, and split my equipment between the two.

That turned out to be an excellent idea: got me what I needed and kept me within budget.

Great service, and a great product, highly recommended.

Just hope your UPS from APC doesn't damage your computer -- their "no-warrantee" policy will find more excuses, loopholes, and stupid rationale for not covering your computer that you can imagine. They are experts and not living up to their warrantee claims -- and I have the receipts to prove. Good luck.
