Cheaptickets.com Complaint - Charged for 2 trips instead of 1!! Don't use cheaptickets.com!!!!!!!

Complaint
Review by karencl on 2010-10-04
While booking with cheaptickets.com, I received a message that my booking did not go through. Therefore, I tried it again. The second time, it went through. I received an email that said my trip was confirmed. I assumed it was for the second attempt. While reviewing things for the trip, I noticed that I had 2 reservations! Upon contacting Cheap Tickets, I was told the best they could do was cancel the first flight, but that I would have to pay rebooking fees and that the next flight would have to be USAir going and Delta returning, just as this flight was. So, now I am out $1500! I DO NOT recommend Cheap Tickets. Their website is screwed up and you may end up in the same boat, paying for more than one trip!....Beware!!!

With all the complaints that exist on this site (and on all the internet for that matter) why do people remain insistent on using these 3rd party shysters? Is it really worth it?

In this case $1500 would be a sizable chunk of change for me. Maybe for some it's just pocket change.

What I don't get, is why someone who is obviously not new at this, is asking that question? The general public do not go to consumer websites until they have a problem. Even if the third party sites had a 25% complete failure rate, that would still be hundreds of thousands of satisfied customers.

Priceline and it's clones are discounters. Every damn airline and service has eliminated bargains, or added hidden fees. You have a point, in that the savings from a 3rd party site can be as little as 20-30 bucks. When it's 50 - $100?? And sometimes that $20 frikken HELPS..

Now the OP lost out big time. For that amount of money, I'd get lawyers involved. I've used Priceline for good and for bad over the years. The last time I flew, I tried DESPERATELY to find a similar cost from the airlines themselves, vacation packages, even wasted my time at a travel agency. Priceline saved me $50 each. That was a hundred I used for vacation fun instead.

It was a RISK. I am informed of such. The OP took time out of their day to inform other people. They didn't deserve the snotty reply.

idontthinkso, it was NOT a snotty reply. It was rhetorical. Mostly for the benefit of other readers to give some thought to. It is, in fact, a very helpful review.
