Allegiant Airlines Complaint - Fees, fees and more fees.
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA -- Yes, I'll agree that Allegiant Airlines ticket prices are the lowest of any I have been able to find. However, their advertised prices in no way reflect the actual cost of travel via their airline. An advertised round-trip flight from FLL to TYS is $185.96 plus taxes and fees. These taxes and fees increased the bare-bones cost to $290.70. One 'Prepaid Bag' added $39.98 ($19.99 per 'Segment'...thank God the flight is non-stop). In order to be seated anywhere near my wife, there was an additional $51.96 'Seat Selection Fee'). If we wanted to make sure there was overhead space for our carry-on luggage, there was a $39.96 'Priority Boarding Fee' ($19.98 per 'Segment'). To ensure that our tickets were not non-refundable in case of some circumstance occurring, we elected to pay $31.96 for 'Trip Flex'. Since we did not feel like fighting traffic in a 15-mile construction zone, we elected to pay $29.98 'Convenience Fee' to book our flight via internet; an even costlier option would have been via phone -- we could have also booked the flight at the ticket counter, but the counter is only manned on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday for a very limited amount of time.
I am questioning the customer service of a company which offers a significant reduction in total price (including optional charges) from the other airlines rather than increasing the total price with all fees included that still are far less expensive than the other airlines. It seems that they just want to rub their customers' noses in their frugality.
