Kmart Complaint - Unfair Treatment at Kmart Store in West Hills, CA
WEST HILLS, CALIFORNIA -- On October 5, 2001, I purchased merchandise from your store located in West Hills, California. I had been shopping in the store for a bout an hour, and proceed to the checkout counter before closing. There were two Caucasin women in front of me in line, they made their purchases with a credit card were give their items and left the store. Finally it was my turn and the cashier Marci rung up my items, and I told her I was going to pay with my Visa Check Card, then I proceed to swipe my card through the terminal at the register, and inturn I gave her my credit card and my drivers license. The the floor supervisor Hawori came over to the register and took my credit card from Marci, and very rudely told me she had to and check my credit card. I watch her walk away with my property, and instead of going to the Customer Service counter she went to the back of the store, and had me waiting 15-20min. I had Marci page her serval times because I wanted to know what the problem was, and I asked Marci is this Kmart's standard credit card transaction policy.
Unfortunately, no one could give me an answer. I also had instructed Marci to call the Store Manager, who had walked by the register several times and did not stop once to see or inquire about the problem. I saw a man who I assumed was the Store Manager walk into a office in the front of the store, and never came out even after he was paged. Finally, Hawori return with my credit card and drivers license. Marci get an approval on my credit card with now problem. I asked Hawori again what was she doing with my credit card and license for so long. She still could give me an acceptable answer.
I was so stressed out that I did not check my shopping bags to make sure I received all the items I paid for, but found when I arrive home I did not have everything I paid for. So I had to got back to Kmart on Saturday, October 6, 2001 to pick up my items; which was a total incovenience. I called Kmart at 8:00am on Saturday to speak with the Manager, I was transferred to a manager named Gabi, who I explained the problem too, ans she could not give me the reason why this happen to me either. Then I was finally transferred to the Store Manager Roy. I asked Roy if this was standard procedure with credit card transactions and he stated 'No' and he said he would talk to the supervisor on duty that night.
Unfortunately, your customer service was not performed well because of unfair racial treatment and lack of knowledge of company policies. I feel my right as a customer were violated, I was treated like a criminal, and a victim of fraud, because I do not have any idea what was being done with my credit card and driver license.
I am seeking compensation for harssment and racial unfairness, and mental stress against your company. I look forward to your replay and a resolution to the problem, and will wait until ten business day after receipt of this letter; before I seek help from a lawyer. Please contact me at the address listed.
At the very least I would like a response from your company regarding this incident. Thank you for your time.
