Target Complaint - Target denies partial refund for mis-stocked sale item; loses customer
LEOMINSTER, MASSACHUSETTS -- 2 weeks ago, I bought 5 plastic storage bins from Target. The bins were clearly marked on sale for $5.44.
At check out, I noticed that my total bill was higher than I expected (I bought a bunch of other stuff, too, not just the boxes). I should have checked right then, but waited till I got home a couple hours later.
Turns out I was charged $9.99 per box - plus they'd double charged me for another item. I called immediately and was told to bring the receipt back and they'd refund the difference.
Well, that didn't happen. Instead, they wouldn't refund me anything - and since the boxes had already been used, they couldn't be returned at that point.
It turns out that the boxes I bought weren't on sale, but rather another color version of the exact same box was. Since I am 100% certain that the boxes I bought had a big 'sale' sign in front of them, it's clear that Target either mis-priced the items or they'd put the wrong boxes into the sale section. I don't know. All I do know is that the boxes I bought had a big sale sign in front of them.
The 6 customer reps that I ended up speaking with (3 in store, 3 on main customer service line) showed zero concern for the possibility that they'd mis-priced or mis-stocked the items - completely disinterested in the possibility.
Bottomline: no refund. Period.
So today I packed up about $100 worth of Target stuff I had bought recently and returned it all. My final Target transaction.
