Time Warner Complaint - Nickle and Dime
While they may advertise good bundle rates, you get services you may not have wanted and most of the deals are bogus. 6 mo of free DVR means you get the DVR service free for six months but still have to lease the DVR box from them for $6.99/mo. I have a Tivo DVR and to get access I have to have a Cable Access Card $2.99/mo. But I can't just pick it up at the store or have them mail this card, no, they have to send a technicin for $40 to put it in the slot. I'm going to see if I can't run him around for over an hour to get my moneys worth.
When your six month freebees are up, they will automatically begin charging you for the service unless you remember to call and cancel them. Big shocker there.
With basic installation I got one cable box and 2 cable connections to other TVs. None of the others get HD unless I order another box at $6.99/mo. At least AT&T lets you record more than one channel at a time and watch on any TV. Not TWC. They will only let you record one channel at a time and then watch it back on the same TV.
Before its all over, what looked like a cheaper deal by consolidating services to one provider has led to greater expense up front that will take a year to recover.
Stay with your current provider and if you tell them your leaving they will offer you their best deal in town to keep you. All of mine did when I was switching. I had DirecTV for 10 yrs and they never so much as offered me a free movie until I told them I was quiting. Then the deals rolled out. To little to late.
