Cox Communications Inc Complaint - Terrible, terrible, terrible!
METAIRIE, LOUISIANA -- I have been using Cox for internet for the past few years, because UNFORTUNATELY I don't have another choice in my area. For those of you who do have a choice, listen up:
-They bill you for things you don't sign up for, and wait for you to call them and cancel it. If you're not vigilant you'll miss it - NEVER SIGN UP FOR AUTOMATIC BILL PAY FOR THIS REASON.
-Over the years, I have had 9 (NINE!) separate times where I was supposed to wait at the house the ENTIRE day for a technician, whether this was to turn on service or fix something, what have you, and they did not show. They tell their boss that I wasn't home, or that they tried to call and it was all not true. THEN THEY CHARGED ME WHEN THEY WERE THERE TO FIX SOMETHING THAT WAS THEIR FAULT.
-Twice I tried to get help on the phone and THEIR INTERNET WAS DOWN.
-There was a server error when I was trying to enroll in online billing. Therefore, password and password questions were never set up and I can't get into the account and have to do everything by phone.
-When you sign up, you get a modem for free. What they don't tell you is you pay for it, and then if you call them and ask them to email you a link you get a rebate. But you have to do it within 30 days - so you have to do this most likely before you ever see this bill for the modem.
-The service is terrible. When the internet is working, it is painfully slow - no matter whether you have the cheap package or the highest speed one. Their explanation when I called several weeks in a row was that "too many people in my neighborhood must be using the internet." When they have come out to look and see "the problem" they (1) tried to charge me and (2) some guy walks around, uses a meter that apparently tells him our internet is fine.
Let me tell you that all my neighbors have the same problems, all my roommates do too, and no one has fixed it. As soon as we get another option around here I am switching. I would have DIAL-UP before I would have Cox cable internet.
