Sears Complaint - Windows salesman
EVERETT, WASHINGTON -- I just had a windows salesman over to give me a quote on replacing some windows in an apartment building I own (3/4/05). We live in one downstairs unit, and the other downstairs unit is currently vacant. The units above have identical windows to those below. The conversation starting going downhill almost immediatley when the salesman expressed great uncertainty that he would even be able to give me a (ballpark) quote because he couldn't measure those windows. After that he started asking me those seedy salesman questions like, "so, who's the decision maker in your marriage?". Lastly, he asked me if I had an HOUR AND A HALF to go over the window stuff after he measured everything. I told him that I didn't have an hour and a half to listen to his sales message. He then called his "supervisor" or something to tell them this, who then asked to be put on the phone with me. I reiterated to her that I didn't have time for such a sales presentation and only wanted a quote. So, she responded by cancelling the appointment. The guy left and I decided that I wouldn't ever do business with Sears again. This project would have been fairly large, so I'm blown away that they feel their sales speech is required in order to produce a quote. Additionally, I'm floored that their method is so inflexible that they can't honor their customer's request.
